For the Brite Softphone Helper browser extension
The Brite Softphone Helper (“the Extension”) enhances Zendesk pages by making phone numbers clickable and by optionally displaying inline audio players for call recordings. This policy explains what data the Extension processes and how it is handled.
What the Extension Does
- Detects phone-like numbers in Zendesk pages to send them to your softphone (click-to-fill or auto-dial, per your settings).
- Optionally converts supported recording links into inline audio players for convenient playback.
- Stores your feature toggles (e.g., auto-dial) using the browser’s
chrome.storage
sync/local storage.
Data Processing and Storage
- On-device processing: The Extension analyzes page content locally in your browser to find phone numbers and recording links.
- No data exfiltration: The Extension does not transmit page contents or personal data to any external servers.
- Settings: Feature toggles are saved in your browser’s extension storage (e.g.,
chrome.storage.sync
), not on Brite servers. - Messaging: When you click a detected phone number, the Extension posts a message to your softphone page or iframe on the same machine to fill/dial the number.
Permissions
The Extension requests scoped access to Zendesk domains (e.g., https://*.zendesk.com/*
) and Brite domains (e.g.,
https://*.britetele.com/*
) solely to enable its on-page enhancements and softphone integration. It does not inject scripts or access data on other sites.
What the Extension Does Not Do
- It does not collect, sell, or share personal information with third parties.
- It does not read or modify data on websites outside its declared host permissions.
- It does not use remote code, analytics beacons, or trackers.
User Choices
You can enable or disable features (recording conversion, phone conversion, auto-dial) at any time via the Extension’s toolbar popup or options page. Changes take effect immediately on refreshed tabs.
